Henry Shukman

Henry Shukman (Ryu’un-ken) is an Associate Zen Master and Roshi of the Sanbo Zen lineage, a Zen school dedicated to lay practice. He is also a writer and poet who has published eight books to date, of fiction, poetry and nonfiction. He writes regularly for Tricycle, The New York Times and other publications, and his most recent book is the poetry collection Archangel.

Sensei Al Genkai Kaszniak, Ph.D. serves as guiding teacher and spiritual director of the Upaya Sangha of Tucson. He received both Jukai and dharma transmission from Roshi Joan Halifax. Sensei Al is an emeritus professor at The University of Arizona where he previously served as Director of the Neuropsychology, Emotion, and Meditation Laboratory; and professor in the departments of Psychology, Neurology, and Psychiatry. He also formerly served as Head of the Psychology Department, and as Director of the UA Center for Consciousness Studies.
