The Upaya Sangha is pleased to offer a discussion group beginning on Wednesday, February 11th. We will study a series of recorded lectures titled “Revealing Nagarjuna” that was offered by John Dunne at Upaya Zen Center in July of 2013.
We will meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays for eight sessions over 16 weeks. The course will engage those of you who have a solid grasp of the fundamental teachings of the Buddha. In this recorded series of lectures, John Dunne articulates the yogin and scholar Nagarjuna’s philosophy which elucidates the nature of emptiness. Dunne approaches Nagarjuna’s reasoning in the context of contemporary Buddhist practice claiming that such reasoning offers one a tool to open one’s mind to seeing things “as they truly are” in “order to end suffering”. Dunne speaks to: interdependence and compassion; experiencing emptiness in one’s practice; the nature of not-knowing, non-thought and luminosity.
